On the latest edition of Nir & Rupar, our live weekly video show, David Nir of The Downballot asks co-host Aaron Rupar of Public Notice all about the work that has made Aaron’s social media accounts an essential follow: clipping must-watch news segments that offer an unfiltered window onto American politics.
Aaron tells us:
How he got started clipping and his experience with his first viral clip.
How he actually goes about the process of finding worthy clips, including the software he uses and the big monitor that feeds him multiple TV stations at once.
How he stays sane watching Donald Trump all day long.
And much more!

Pleasure was mine. Most informative. I am just starting out on substack because my content is considered not compatible to what X would like to see on their platform anymore so I am on my learning curve :) - Any help would be most appreciated!
I've always wondered how folks like Aaron Rupar get their perfect clips. This was very interesting. Thank God you watch all this stuff for us, Aaron. I appreciate it. I like to consume a lot of political news and commentary in print digitally, and I don't have a TV (by choice) or streaming services, so your work is especially helpful to me for catching important moments. If I tried to watch as much Trump and MAGA stuff as you did, I think I would curl up into a little ball and dry up. 😬 Thanks for the inside scoop. I appreciate the regular work that both of you do!
Thanks for an interesting discussion and explanations of how Aaron does what he does. I'm even more in awe of the work he and his team do than I was before listening to this interview.
