IL will never get it, but its political culture of 20 people running, with only 5 of them serious, and yet the other 15 still getting 5-10 percent of the vote a piece, is just begging for Ranked Choice Voting.

The SC Gov primary is a real race to the bottom...

In 1989 Hurricane Hugo blasted into SC and did massive damage across the state. Hard surfaces in coastal areas (bulkheads, sea walls, etc.) made that damage worse. After the storm, the state banned sea walls and such because they don't protect protect in heavy storms and they exacerbate property damage downshore. This has all been well known for decades. But new people move to our coasts, many from the midwest, and memories are short. The laws stood until some high-end gated communities wanted to erode their mandates, helped by current SC AG candidate Stephen Goldfinch. Rom Reddy got caught building his sea wall and since he's a rich (fill in your preferred adjective here) he thinks he's above the law. The SC Environmental Law Project took him to court and beat him. So as he eats his sour grapes he decides to run for Gov. Winner.

Nancy Mace. You all know enough about her. She was right on Epstein files and she's right about the entrenched, corrupt Good Ol Boy cabal that runs Columbia. And pretty much wrong about everything else. The race will get super nasty with....

Allen Wilson, Joe Wilson's (You Lie) son, current state AG who protects Good Ol Boys including a guy from Myrtle Beach who chase another guy down the highway for 9 miles and then shot and killed him in a road rage incident. Wilson claimed the guy, who called his buddies in county police dept for coaching at the scene, couldn't be charged because of Stand Your Ground statute and Citizens Arrest. That just got thrown out of state court (by a judge named Bubba, helping to restore that name). Google Scott Spivey case. He was the victim. Also not charging Alec Murdaugh co-conspirators. Endorsed by Bob Jones (yes, that one).

Josh Kimbrell. Right wing Christian nationalist talk show host and state senator. Funny enough, his district is center of SCs largest in nation measles outbreak, and he's suddenly changing his tune on vaccines now that his kids can't go to school. Currently in lawsuit where he is charged with embezzling money from a business interest. Formerly charged eith sex crimes but charges dropped by one of Alan Wilson's staff. I haven't followed that case, so won't comment more. Hopefully the solicitor (DA) made the correct choice.

Ralph Norman, he's nearly the sanest candidate, despite his association with siting a solar panel manufacturer next to an elementary and middle school complex that can't be evacuated in time should they have a silane gas leak, his overt love of Guns, and his jokes about sexual harassment in SCOTUS confirmation hearings. Endorsed by Nikki Haley

Pamela Evette. Current LG, not a pol before McMaster picked her as his 2nd. She's relatively pro-environment, pro-school vouchers, pro-sane (if still conservative) govt. She talks MAGA, but like McMaster, she seems more practical. She's the adult in the room.

The Dems have William Mullins McLeod Jr, a silver spoon lawyer last seen being arrested in Charleston in a druken naked rant about something.

And Jermaine Johnson, State Rep since 2020 from Columbia, former Andrew Yang chair, African American. Compelling back story. I quite like him, but he has no identity outside of the Black community in SC, as far as I can tell, and no shot. I mean, he'd be great as a replacement for Clyburn, but wasn't even mentioned anywhere. (Not even by Julian. 😆)
