Thats why we need to start getting it bk by going all in fir secular things like 2A and health. Moms Demand Action type gun control groups are a huge albatross around the necks. Parkland, Florida is a Trump stronghold.

I don't have any problem with not pursuing an assault rifles ban but some of these folks are so protective that they hate red flag laws, a national registry and universal background checks which will "take away their guns". John Cornyn of Texas is about to be discarded because of his participation in a common sense bipartisan gun safety bill. Furthermore, these regular mass shootings have polarized the Democratic base in the favor of gun control.

Also, Jon Tester was pro 2A.

How would you define secular, many secular people from red states don't believe in organised religion but still believe in conservative values like life starts at conception, there are only two genders, are skeptical of vaccines and don't like even legal immigration.

Tester was weak on the border until it was too late, he said so himself on MSNBC. Firstly, a national registry is ridiculous. That should never be a part of any legislation. Second, if you look at the subspace of cultural issues (border, lgbtq, vaccines/ health, guns, racism/misogny, abortion) border, vaccine/health, guns are secular issues. I am saying there is a difference between immigration and border, one which is external and one is internal. Not the convo i want to have right now though. The ither 2 issues, vaccine/health, and guns are 2 that Democrats should be very hands off on. I think that is a great way to get back into the good graces of so many freedom loving middle Americans especially like those in Montana. They dont have abortion ban, they dont have lgbtq health ban, Dems picked up seats in the legislature. They are ripe for Dems to make real moves but it requires leaving ppl the heck alone on certain secular issues.

National gun registry works out fine in other Anglophone nations though I agree it would be political cancer here.

I agree to disagree on Montana, I believe there is simply no way middle Americans who hate liberals vote for us. Trying to flip a +20R state where the largest city has a 0.1M population is futile.

Tester had a long running personal brand and was a politician from an age where there was ticket splitting, no red or blue states. I don't buy into the argument that he was weak on immigration, he consistently voted against immigration reform acts like the DREAM act and against expanding gun safety measures. Susan Collins looks likely to be the next Tester.
