Youngkin never presented himself as a religious rightist (if he had he probably wouldn't be governor), but his operatives' negative reaction to Reid's sexuality is at least amusing. And if he wants to run for president, I'm not sure what impact it may have but there's the potential for opposition from both religious and more secular Republicans. (Personally I'm sympathetic to Reid in that his private doings, so long as they're with consenting adults, should not be an issue.)
But on a broader level people and the media should stop pretending that Trump somehow recast the GOP as a culturally tolerant party, especially given evangelicals' cultish fawning over him.
