Curley was only governor 1935-1937, and he gave up his seat to unsuccessfully run for Senate against Henry Cabot Lodge. He did regain the mayor's office later, but he wasn't a sitting governor by then.
And Jerry Brown, but again, like you said, it was in between his 2 stints as governor and he wasnтАЩt in the governorтАЩs office when he ran for mayor of Oakland.
