I still find that Beacon Research poll for Cooper v. Whatley unbelievable (I still think Cooper is favored to win the seat by 2-3 points). If that poll actually mirrors what happens come 11/3/26, the state legislature could flip. And incumbent NCSC justice Anita Earls would easily trounce Sarah Stevens.

But if the D+10 wave happens, I will not complain. Because NC Dems will have a mandate to undo most of Phil Berger, Destin Hall and Tim Moore's fuckery on our state.

Obituaries: Former Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-AZ) has died at 86.

Mitchell was mayor of the suburban Phoenix community of Tempe until serving a long career in the state legislature. His career culminated in representing part of Phoenix and the East Valley in Congress after defeating Republican Rep. J.D. Hayworth in the 2006 wave. He was subsequently ousted by Republican David Schweikert in 2010. Schweikert ran in a different district after 2012 redistricting, and two Democrats, Kyrsten Sinema and Greg Stanton, have held it since.

Small correction on the headline piece: it's former Rep. Larry LaRocco, not LoRocco
