Democrats have allowed themselves to be branded "crazy" "disgusting" "groomers" and "radical extremists" every single day for years so yeah, the masses are of course going to be souring on the brand which is illustrated in our cratering registration numbers in nearly every state.

Democrats also seem like they don't want to go on offense. Besides bland platitudes that sound generic and unemotional griping about "far right Maga republicans", we never see *angry* Democrats blasting Republicans in any meaningful language.

Besides AOC and Sanders and perhaps one or two others, Democrats have completely ceded the messaging war to the other side.

The closest we came to the party throwing aside the niceties was when Walz went viral for calling Trump a robber barron and calling Republicans "weird" for being obsessed with people's personal lives.

Then he was promptly muzzled by the national campaign's "don't offend anyone we are a big tent!' police.

It doesn't help that Democratic voters don't let Democratic politicians get away with being "mean." The fact that THE standard bearer of the Republican Party's rise to power started by questioning the citizenship of our last two term elected Democratic Party President while THE standard bearer of the Democratic Party's rise to power started in a speech given in my hometown where he claimed "there is not a liberal America, there is not a conservative America, there is the United States of America" says it all. As I've said many times, the reason many Democratic Presidential candidates pay lip service to "bipartisanship" isn't to appease Republicans, but to appease fellow Democrats. If either Obama or Biden ran on "Republicans are evil fascists", they both would have been laughed off the stage and gone nowhere in their runs. Getting them to change means Democratic VOTERS need to drop this "bipartisan" fantasy and LET their politicians be "mean."

Disagree. It’s not Democratic voters, but the media talking heads and their consultants who they’re trying to please.

This. Absolutely this. We need to get rid of the consultants and treat the media with contempt, should be easy since they've considerably shifted to the Right. Democrats need to stop worrying about niceties and norms and start getting mean, angry and shameless. Every elected Dem should be out there right now calling this the Trump Crash or the Trump Tragedy.

Once again, Democratic voters have to LET them be “mean.” You and Paleo operate on the notion that Democrats are mirror Republicans. We aren’t. We actually expect our politicians to govern and deliver. Republicans don’t care as long as “the left is sad.”

Maybe they should take a chance and switch up strategies. Obviously still govern and deliver but be mean while doing it. Better than losing time and time again.

Voters. Have. To. LET. them.

In other words we have to imitate Republicans. Good luck with that.

I agree to an extent- the media certainly expects different responses from Ds than Rs and the accountability is totally skewered. However there are very specific fringe groups and "activists" on our side who don't even let a Democrat stray from orthodoxy either. The problem we have now is being the "big tent party" means we are trying to appease everyone 100%, which of course leaves nobody satisfied. It's a very big problem.

The Democratic Party is a Hufflepuff party in a Slytherin country.

Nope. If that were the case, Democratic voters wouldn’t have chosen the man who said “there is not a liberal America, there is not a conservative America, there is the United States of America.” VOTERS decide.

Harris also called him weird. And Democrats haven't "allowed themselves" to be called those things:

they had no power to get Fox and other propaganda media to shut up.
