Just wanted to comment that The Downballot is so helpful with keeping track of what is happening election wise across the country. Without this Substack, I would be clueless and it all matters! Thank you David for your fabulous work.
Yes, thanks so much for this wealth of clear information!
Question: If there is no opposing party candidate listed for a given seat, does that mean that the missing party is not fielding a candidate? (For example, that's the case for IL house 5 through 11.)
To answer your question, no, the absence of a candidate for a particular party in a particular race does not necessarily mean *no one* is running for that party in that race. As others noted below, we only include candidates we believe are notable.
For the purposes of this chart, this is a very low bar. Those we exclude almost always have raised nothing or next to nothing. If we included literally everyone, it would be a cacophony, with thousands of candidates. So we try to strike a balance.
First off, thank you for all the data you have included. I was just curious if you had any information from Eric Moyer? He's running for NE-1, but I don't see his name on the list.

I believe yes. I live in a single candidate district and that is definitely the case, no contest.
Most times nonentity candidates that raise next to nothing get skipped. The House entry is over 800 rows long!
No. “every incumbent…seeking reelection, as well as notable non-incumbents”
a lot of work to have compiled this,
some additional candidates will probably be added,
running in districts not widely considered competitive
e.g., in FL-06, Jennifer Jenkins has raised 565k so far this cycle.
Our pleasure!

Thanks for the clear answer. Any avoidance of cacophony is desirable; might you be able to journalistically muzzle the orange blob? :o)
Let me guess, the Dems are leading in fundraising in all aspects.
