Hello from IL 9th and the city where Biss is ‘mayor’. Thanks for covering what happened here. As a Bushra voter, my POV on the contest. If Biss is a progressive, his record as mayor doesn't show it.
On schools - since taking office Biss stood by apathetically while multiple elementary schools and a bilingual program has been shuttered. In the schools that remain open, suspected pedophiles and embezzlers roamed the hallways as recently as last October www.foiagras.com/p/mendez-2023-followup
On strategic planning - Biss squandered untold taxpayer dollars and hours building a 300+ page "plan" that mentions children approximately 10 times. He did this while also running for congres...https://www.envisionevanston2045.com/
On 'Fighting' ICE - Bovino caused a district-wide shut down when his goons kidnapped one of our neighbors outside of Lincolnwood elementary on 10/31/25 around 11AM. Kids saw it from the playground. Biss later declared Bovino 'unwelcome', got his gas station photo op and MSNBC anointed him.
I don't count on Biss giving power back to the people. Kat may have "pulled him left" for the primary. Sure. But his past behavior says he's ready to re-attach to his security blankie - ie JB's coattails.
