Texas Democrats say they have not yet decided to return home
Despite a report that the walkout was ending, lawmakers say they're "still assessing their strategies"

A local TV station reported on Tuesday that Texas House Democrats would end their walkout, but CNN—and lawmakers themselves—said that no such decision had been made.
Citing unnamed sources, Tom Abrahams of ABC13 in Houston reported that Democrats, who left the state over a week ago to block Republicans from passing their new congressional gerrymander, would return home at an unspecified date.
Abrahams said that Democrats had concluded they'd "accomplished their mission by killing the first special session and by raising national awareness about the mid-decade redistricting effort."
CNN, however, reported that Democrats were holding a private meeting to consider "next steps as they weigh how long to continue to remain out of the state," with two unnamed sources emphasizing that "no decision has been made on whether to return."
That squared with a statement House Democrats put out on social media following ABC13's reporting.
