Small error: I believe the Democrat's name in the MA special election is Lisa Field, not Amy Field. But I'm still celebrating her win!

Oh so now Republicans care about mail in ballots!

It feels like mail-in ballots stopped being a huge point of contention in the last year or so. I welcome it, frankly.

Bristol County has been tending rightward for awhile. I remember when we lost the Bristol 12th district back in 2011, in a special election. At the time, I was confident we'd get it back in the next regular election. Instead it's been solidly red ever since.

It's pretty dramatic. Obama carried it 60-37 in 2008. Biden carried it by 12%. Harris won it by just over 1%.

Same thing with Elizabeth Warren. She went from a solid win in the county in her 8 pt win over Brown, to narrowly losing it last year, despite a 20 pt margin Statewide.

You can see a fairly dramatic visualization from Dave Leip here. (His maps preserve the pre-2000 color scheme, so Dems are red.) Hover over the "2012" button to flash between the results.

Interestingly Harris did even worse in the South Coast, losing Fall River and holding New Bedford by a smaller margin, but won the county overall on a much stronger performance in the northern commuter towns off I-95.
