There’s been a reversal of the parties’ bases. Democrats now have the highly informed, highly engaged voters that used to vote Republican. So it’s not surprising that Democrats would over-perform in special elections and off-year elections. We need to take capitalize on that advantage - Republicans were able to do so when the situation was reversed.
