Is this for real? Yeah, I realize Ryan Grim wrote that (never heard of him), but is he accurately describing real events? Or are these merely the concoctions of an overactive, attention-seeking political mind?

PollJunkie's avatar

Grim is the founder of The Intercept and Dropsite News and he is merely providing a summary of the NOTUS article here.

This win, along with the Democratic win of Mayor of Miami this evening, gives me hope.

And we still have that mayoral election in New Mexico for a possible trifecta?

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

The incumbent, Tim Keller, won that race - its nonpartisan, so I don't know who the Democrat is

Keller is the incumbent Democrat, White was the Republican challenger

This is why we exist! We always try to mention candidates' partisan affiliations (if they exist) in officially nonpartisan races.

Cheryl Johnson's avatar

Clearly, I should have read your post more closely since you did mention 2 Democrats mayors poised to win.

What about GA House District 23?

ArcticStones's avatar

Does Dem Scott Sanders have a realistic shot at this? Or is Bill Fincher likely to accumulate the votes from the other three Republican candidates?

Seems unlikely he'd be able to overcome 73% of the voters supporting Rs. But maybe some of the losing Rs will take their voters and go home.

ArcticStones's avatar

My thoughts as well. But the eternal optimist in me says: with proper GOTV efforts, Scott Sanders ought to be able to recruit as many voters from the Sofasitter Party as Bill Fincher does from his party rivals.

Sofasitter party is deeply entrenched!

yes!! we must make this a core part of political and societal engagement - taking every opportunity, throughout the year, to restore and strengthen democratic principles at every level of government

Ok, who had Eileen Higgins winning Miami’s mayoral race by almost 20 points on their Bingo Card?

Avedee Eikew's avatar

I actually thought she would but yeah 20 points way out of the ballpark of what I would have guessed the margin would be.

Well, congrats to Eric Gisler, and the blue wave keeps getting larger.

Nice win.

Maybe now Ossoff will stop begging for money and use his YouTube ad budget to promote what he is for and what he is doing. Would love if every Ossoff ad was asking the public to contact their Senators and Representatives to support and co-sponsor the Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act.

This was a big W by the Georgia Dems.
